BaronVonAggie. 3:08p, 3/4/08. AG. The monoprice 1.3a HDMI cables are built better than the monster HDMI cable IMO anyway. They're thicker than a no name hdmi cable I have (which works fine also) which indicates thicker shielding, and they have ferrite cores to reduce RFI. Regardless if the cable meets the 1.3a spec its going to be fine.
I don't know about all Monster products, but I know Monster guitar cables come with a lifetime guarantee. That is the only cool part about them. Honestly though its not even worth it. I bought a $40 15 ft guitar cable from Monster, and the damn thing shorted out about 4 months in. I've never gotten so little use out of a guitar cable.
The gold coating can be achieved thru a chemical process known as PVD on metal parts. Hence, it's not worth. What you should be concerned are the certified version of the cable. HDMI Version 2.1 is now the average requirement to carry ATMOS as well as Dolby HDR.
It seems a lot of the thread here have been whether or not it works and comments by people comparing it to overpriced monster cables without actually googling what the thing is. Lost in that is whether or not the anti-aliasing and contrast/color changes is worth the USD$130-160 price.
I've used regular gold plated cables from many different brands (sony, radio shack, trisonic, etc.) and none have failed me yet. This is like 5-6 years now. Stories of monster cables being super quality and everything else failing is probably super exaggerated. In the end its probably not worth the extra money.
Monster provide high quality cables that improve sound quality when used with compatible products such as the new Ipad. Are monster cables worth the cost? Updated: 11/4/2022. Wiki User. ∙
What I learned was to either buy Monoprice or spend heavy for the Apple recommended $30 Belkin cable. I have a Monster Home Theater Surge Protector 10 outlet I bought in 2004 that has served me well, so a little disappointment about this Monster cable. Update 0128/23 - The Monster cable is acting up. Every so often we get sound but no picture.
I just bought a kick ass widescreen TV and I was going to pick up some Monster Cables for my PS2 and GCN (or the official component cables offered by Sony and Nintendo). They are EXPENSIVE! For a Cheap Ass like myself, I was wondering if anyone else out there has them and/or if they are worth
The Monster cable made quite a dramatic change. The RS cables gave the music a warmer sound, and although they are a good value, they hide some of the detail. The RS cables could possibly be used to tame a bright sounding system, but the Denon/HK combo I am using does not benefit from such a cable.
